We are pleased to announce that Dr. Michal Grivna has been confirmed as a speaker at PHTT 2016.
Dr. Grivna is public health educator and practitioner, and has worked extensively in epidemiology and injury prevention in the UAE. He holds an MD from Charles University’s Faculty of Pediatrics and a Master of Public Health from Virginia Commonwealth University. He currently works as Professor at the Institute of Public Health of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU).
Before joining UAEU in 2003, Dr. Grivna was Director, Assistant Professor, and Founder of the Center for Childhood Injury Epidemiology and Prevention at Charles University. His research interests lie in youth injury prevention and epidemiology. Selected publications include analysis of trauma registry usage in identifying the UAE’s prevention priorities for youth-specific RTAs, the impact of seat-belt usage in RTA epidemiology and outcome, among others.
He has also been committed to community action. He has contributed towards evaluating the challenges that the UAE faces with safety promotion through the Victorian Safe Communities Network and led the implementation of the Safe Community Program in Prague and the European Child Safety Alliance, and also played a pivotal role in the proposition and implementation of road safety regulations with the Czech government.
Dr. Grivna’s talk at PHTT 2016 will focus on the causational and consequential context of RTAs in the UAE, and how RTAs in the UAE compare to the global scene.
We are looking forward to having Dr. Grivna at our 2016 conference – and hope you will be there with us too!
